Cluster Management Daemon

The Cluster Management Daemon (CMDaemon) runs on all nodes in a Bright cluster, including the head node. Together, all CMDaemons form a powerful network that renders full control over the cluster.

All cluster management actions are executed through the cluster management daemons. When the cluster management shell and the cluster management GUI communicate with the cluster management infrastructure, they are actually interacting with the cluster management daemon running on the head node.

The cluster management daemon starts automatically when a head node or a slave node boots and continues to run until the node is shut down.

A cluster running Bright Cluster Manager™ exposes an API over encrypted connections to the outside world, which allows any application to communicate securely with the cluster. Certificate-based authentication guarantees that only authorized clients can gain access to the cluster.

The cluster management daemon includes several advanced features for scalability, redundancy and flexibility on large and complex clusters.
