Bright Cluster Manager Speeds Chinese Climate Change Research Efforts
Tsinghua University relies on Bright to manage its Hadoop-based cluster for climate modeling

Bright Computing — the leading vendor-independent provider of cluster management software — announced that China’s renowned Tsinghua University is using Bright Cluster Manager® to support its leading research on global climate change. Located in Beijing, the university’s Center for Earth System Science develops complex software based on the Community Earth System Model (CESM) and the Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System (FGOALS_G). Bright is used to manage the center’s Hadoop and Hive data warehouse cluster, an advanced development and benchmarking platform for modeling and studying changes in the earth’s climate.
Tsinghua University selected Bright Cluster Manager because it provided a powerful solution for deploying, testing, provisioning, monitoring and managing its cluster while minimizing staffing requirements. Further, the center will benefit from Bright’s proven scalability, enabling the research team to build out their planned system expansions without the need to modify its cluster management software.

As a result, our researchers can develop benchmark software more quickly because we minimize downtime for maintenance and troubleshooting performance issues.”
