Bright Computing, NVIDIA and NextIO to Drive Panel Discussion on Use of GPUs in HPC at International Supercomputing Conference in Germany
"GPUs in HPC: Trendy Technology, or Serious Computing?"
San Jose, California
—
Bright Computing, a leader in cluster management software, today announced that the company is teaming with partners NVIDIA and NextIO in a panel discussion at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) in Hamburg, Germany. A leading European HPC journalist will moderate as representatives from the three companies explore lessons in deriving maximum value from GPUs in high performance computing - including when not to use the accelerators:
To GPU, or not to GPU? That is the question that is often debated when designing HPC clusters. To some, the value of GPUs in HPC is unproven; to others, including the Chinese, GPUs are the new Holy Grail in scaling to new performance heights. This BoF will invite participants to explore and debate the merits of GPU computing, including how best to maximize their value in computing, and how to effectively manage complex clusters comprising both traditional CPUs and GPUs. Several HPC use cases will be offered to illustrate contrasting scenarios.
The discussion will take place at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, 22 June, in Hall C2.2 at the conference center.
