Bright Computing and Univa Offer Combined Cluster & Workload Management Solution
Bright Cluster Manager and Univa Grid Engine will be sold and supported as one unified product by both companies
San Jose, California
—
Bright Computing, the leading vendor-independent supplier of cluster management software, announced today that it has partnered with Univa to create a bundled product offering to be sold worldwide by both companies. Bright Cluster Manager® provides a unified solution for provisioning, monitoring and managing HPC clusters. Univa Grid Engine is a leading workload management solution that provides scheduling capabilities to both Big Data and Big Compute applications. The combined solution provides the full spectrum of cluster management function through a single, intuitive graphical user interface and management shell. System administrators have complete visibility and control over every aspect of their clusters and gain productivity advantages through the tight integration of the two products.
Clusters using this combined product are automatically cloud-ready, enabling system administrators to extend their clusters into the cloud, and manage these nodes, with just a few easy steps.
“Bright Computing already offers a range of workload managers as pre-integrated, admin-selectable options,” said David Maples, SVP of Sales at Bright Computing. “The purpose of combining our products is really about customer convenience. Moving forward, our customers can purchase the full solution from either company, and have a single point of contact for installation, support and maintenance.”
“Another driver for this selling partnership is demand from our mutual OEM partners,” added Rob Secontine, VP of Sales and Marketing at Univa. “One large systems vendor in particular has standardized on both of our products. It’s operationally more efficient to have a single SKU, a single source, for them to work with.”
As the two companies remain independent entities, Bright Cluster Manager will continue to be available with other workload management solutions as pre-configured options, and Univa Grid Engine will also be available as a standalone product.
As part of the rollout of the combined product, Bright Computing CEO, Dr. Matthijs van Leeuwen will present “Bright Cluster Manager & Univa Grid Engine — Maximum Productivity through Deep Integration” at the Grid Engine Evolution Summit meeting on Monday, 1 October in Regensburg, Germany. This two-day user conference will also feature experts presenting best practices, case studies and product roadmaps in cloud computing and big data.
