Last week we announced a new version of Bright Cluster Manager (version 7) and we're pleased to tell you that as of today, Bright Cluster Manager 7 is shipping!
Bright Cluster Manager 7 is a fully-featured cluster manager, but our engineers are always finding ways to make it better. You can read up on the new HPC-related features here. Now people can use the built-in image revision control feature to keep all of their software images in order, and they can build clusters using Cisco UCS hardware. The third big change is not a new feature, but a set of improvements on the way we interface with Amazon Web Services. By handling the instantiation of cloud nodes even more intelligently than before, we can reduce the number of CPU cycles our customers have to pay for when they run clusters in the cloud.
We’ll be showing Bright Cluster Manager 7 at the Hadoop Summit in Amsterdam next week, so if you're in the area, stop by and check it out.
