Bright CTO, Martijn de Vries, Talks Containers

By Rachel Chicken | December 11, 2015 | Cloud, HPC, Big Data

In this video, Bright’s Chief Technology Officer talks about containerisation. Martijn explains that Linux container technology for HPC allows better control over resources.

He explains how container technology is also relevant for cloud bursting, because it allows you to create packages of HPC jobs that can be transferred to the cloud for remote processing, making cloud bursting certain workloads a lot easier than it is today.

Integrating with container technology opens up new opportunities for Bright Cluster Manager. For example, Bright technology is currently used in the HPC, cloud, and big data industries; however, Martijn explains that by integrating with container technology, it could also power generic web farms and large websites in the future.
