Germany is the largest technology market in Europe, according to Germany Trade & Invest, and accounts for 24.5% of all technology purchases in the region. By comparison the UK accounts for 17.3% and France accounts for 15.6%.
Therefore, it’s not surprising at all that more and more enterprise companies in Germany are adopting cloud technology. Experton Group reported in 2013 a 46% increase in investment and spending in the German cloud market between 2013-2014, and predicts Germany’s cloud market to be worth over 18 billion euros by 2017.
Driven by new federal data security guidelines and regulations, both SME and enterprise organisations are now embracing flexible and scalable cloud solutions on a huge scale.Combined with government support for the Internet of Things, Digital Transformation and Big Data, Germany is one of the most lucrative and exciting places for the cloud industry in Europe.
That’s why it is a perfect place to host biggest annual European Cloud exhibition. This year, Cloud Expo Europe in Frankfurt attracted more than 200 different technology and solution providers who see the event as absolutely vital for networking, consulting, and meeting new people in the industry.
The show program covered a lot of interesting topics including virtualisation, infrastructure, storage & SDN, cloud innovations, services & applications, service providers and cloud Ecosystems, private and hybrid cloud, big data analytics and internet of things, cloud security, compliance and regulation.
More than 120 companies exhibited in the expo zone, demonstrating products and services within the cloud ecosystem.
This year Bright Computing, the leading independent provider of management software for high performance computing (HPC) clusters, big data clusters, and OpenStack clouds, exhibited alongside our partner, Profitbricks, showcasing Bright OpenStack. OpenStack makes easy to deploy, provision, and manage your OpenStack-based private cloud infrastructure, and provides headache-free deployment on bare metal, advanced monitoring and management tools, and dynamic health-checking, all in one powerful, intuitive package.
ProfitBricks was hosting a “Starship Enterprise" style booth, which enabled visitors to the show to take full advantage of the exhibition, and to find out the best cloud solutions available on the market.
At the event, we enjoyed meaningful conversations and shared our experience of managing OpenStack with visitors to the booth. It was particularly interesting to note how many companies are facing the challenge of an increasingly converged infrastructure; OpenStack plus HPC, or OpenStack plus Big Data, or even all three. So Bright was able to share our experience of managing these disparate environments from a single point of control.
We were glad to be a part of Cloud Expo Europe this year and look forward to seeing you there in 2017!
