Getting your arms around OpenStack

In recent months, I have had many meaningful conversations with new and existing Bright customers and partners, about OpenStack.

Two salient points are always discussed: Firstly, in line with what Gartner is saying, OpenStack may well be the best-known open source private cloud framework, but it remains poorly understood. Secondly, OpenStack deployment is a challenge. And, while OpenStack transitions through the development phase and while its protocols and industry standards are still being defined, these factors are not going away any time soon.

However, OpenStack – and the opportunity to use open source software to create an on-premise private cloud – has the potential to save companies a vast amount of time and money.  It makes it possible for business units to prototype, develop, test and deploy new solutions very quickly, without the need to stand up physical servers on a project-by-project basis.  We use it at Bright – it’s great!

So, I have recorded a short 5-minute video to introduce you to the benefits of using Bright to manage your OpenStack cloud. In the video I explain how we bring our proven cluster management expertise to the OpenStack world.  We make it easy to deploy a complete cloud over bare metal and manage it effectively and efficiently.  Our solution leverages Bright Cluster Manager’s proven capabilities to provide single pane of glass management for the hardware, the operating system, the OpenStack software, and users. With Bright Cluster Manager for OpenStack, system administrators can get their own clouds running quickly and keep them running reliably throughout their life cycle — all with the ease and elegance of fully featured, enterprise-grade management software.

And, we don’t just bring value to the deployment phase; we have a wealth of experience in operational infrastructure management. We manage, monitor and health-check, allowing customers to automate and simplify the day-to-day administration of their hardware and software, from a single pane of glass. And we are hardware vendor agnostic.

To find out more about our solution for OpenStack, and to hear about the business benefits that arise from using our software, please listen to my 5-minute video. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a demo, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!
