Many organizations that work with high performance computing (HPC) clusters are focused on research and lack the skills to properly manage and control their cluster. Instead, they depend on expensive, external experts to keep their infrastructuring running properly.
One of our customers, the Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (CeMM), overcame this problem by using Bright Cluster Manager to deploy a new HPC cluster that could be maintained by their own team -- no more highly paid IT consultants.
In the end, they saved about €500,000. Interested in reading how they did it? You can download the case study here.
Montana State University’s Information Technology Center’s Research Cyberinfrastructure (RCi) group had to build a shared community computing resource – a flexible infrastructure that would let them offer compute and storage services at an affordable price. We just completed a new case study that tells the interesting story of how they met the challenge.

Our latest case study tells how the University of Colorado at Boulder upgraded and added to its high-performance compute cluster used for mechanical engineering research. After they replaced their original cluster management platform with Bright Computing’s Bright Cluster Manager they boosted cluster performance by more than 10 percent for some users, and eliminated a laundry list of annoying performance issues that had a negative effect on the important research being conducted.

The Institute of Aircraft Design in Stuttgart installed Bright Cluster Manager to greatly enhance the usability of its high performance computing (HPC) cluster.
