San Jose, California — Bright Computing, the leading, vendor-neutral provider of management solutions for clusters and clouds, announced today that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Rogue Wave Software. Under this agreement, Rogue Wave’s TotalView advanced debugger will be bundled with Bright Cluster Manager®, and made available at no additional cost to Bright Computing’s new and existing customers via registration and download.
“Rogue Wave is pioneering the concept of pairing a commercial debugger with a leading cluster management solution,” stated Scott Lasica, Vice President of Product Management & Marketing at Rogue Wave. “Through this strategic agreement, both Bright Computing and Rogue Wave are strengthening their abilities to effectively serve organizations around the world. Most importantly, Bright Computing’s customers will now have a world-class debugger included with their cluster management solution.”
“We are pleased to offer Rogue Wave’s TotalView debugger at no additional cost to our customers,” stated Dr. Matthijs van Leeuwen, CEO of Bright Computing. “Rogue Wave’s debugger has been solving some of the world’s most complex development problems for more than twenty years, and now our customers can directly benefit from this track record.”
Whether it is through the use of traditional CPUs, plus emerging or established accelerators or coprocessors, the potential for parallel computing at scale has never been brighter. However, to realize the promise of large-scale computing on heterogeneous architectures, organizations need to appropriately outfit their in-house development teams with tools that actually enable the development process.
In the case of debugging code, Bright Computing’s customers will now have access to RogueWave’s TotalView. TotalView is a scalable and intuitive debugger for parallel applications written in C, C++, and Fortran. Designed to improve developer productivity, TotalView simplifies and shortens the process of developing, debugging, and optimizing complex applications. TotalView provides a powerful combination of capabilities for pinpointing and fixing hard-to-find bugs, such as race conditions, memory leaks, and memory overruns. Providing developers the ability to step freely, both forwards and backwards, through program execution, TotalView’s unique reverse debugging capabilities drastically reduce the amount of time invested in troubleshooting code. To help developers maximize hardware capabilities, TotalView also provides debugging support for NVIDIA® CUDA™, OpenACC® and the Intel® Xeon® Phi™ coprocessor.
Bright Cluster Manager® is used worldwide by leading public and private-sector organizations to provision, monitor, and manage on-premise clusters, as well as to seamlessly extend these clusters into the cloud. From bare metal to end-user ready in hours, Bright accelerates deployment and maintenance of an integrated solution stack that incorporates all compute, storage and network resources. Starting with the foundation provided by the Linux operating environment, Bright delivers customer-centric offerings using best-of-breed open source and commercial software at the middleware (e.g., workload managers) and application layers of the solution stack.
