Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a leading Hybrid IT and Intelligent Edge technology solutions provider. HPE collaborates with Bright to solve its customers' HPC and AI computing challenges by harnessing Bright’s award-winning cluster management software and its pioneering deep-learning software technology.
In 2019, HPE completed the acquisition of Bright partner Cray. At this time, Phil Davis, President of Hybrid IT at HPE was quoted as saying “Bringing together Cray and HPE establishes the most comprehensive end-to-end portfolio across compute, storage, software and services in the fast-growing high performance computing and artificial intelligence market segments. But, the real value is what we can accomplish together as one team. We are united in our vision to be a global leader in high performance computing. By combining the teams’ deep expertise and R&D engines, we are better positioned to help our customers solve their most data-intensive challenges both today and well into the future.”
Cray harnesses Bright Cluster Manager to offer key services to its customers such as automated Luster server failover. Cray customers also benefit from an image-based provisioning, built-in redundancy via automatic failover, support for diskless nodes, and proven scalability to TOP500 class configurations.
Bright Cluster Manager has been deployed on large HPC installations and on external services piece of the Cray XE6 supercomputer at the United States Department of Energy's National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC).
"We are excited about our collaboration with Bright Computing on HPC and AI. The addition of Bright Cluster Manager to our portfolio will allow our customers to seamlessly manage heterogeneous technical compute clusters and increase operational efficiency."
